This special event will also serve as the national launch of the Suitcase Jake Commemorative Fund established to raise money for Jake Elder, one of motor racings true living legends. The Jake Elder Crew Chief of the Race Award, sponsored by Darrell Waltrip, will go to the winning car's crew chief. In addition, OSR will offer, for sale at the track and on their website (www.osrct.com), a Suit Case

"One of our goals at Old School Racing is to establish the Retired Racers Foundation to help support retired racers that may need some extra help," said OSR Managing Partner Gene Weaver. "Helping Suit Case Jake get back on his feet is exactly what we want to accomplish."
Pioneers of racing, like Jake Elder, did not get the huge paychecks that these guys get today, yet they paved the way and we want to try to pay them back for everything they have done for this sport. Helping old school racers is a lofty goal, but one that is long overdue.

"We're thrilled to be able to participate in this event with OSR," said Jeff Gilder, of the RacersReunion Network. "Our goal is to bring recognition to the roots of stock car racing and to keep these legends of the sport in front of their fans. This is a perfect fit for us."

For Immediate ReleaseOld School Racing Postpones Inaugural Season, New Partnership to Make it Bigger and Better in 2009 Mooresville, NC (April 24, 2008) - Old School Racing announced today a new plan for the series. Under the new plan The Old School Racing (OSR) Series will launch its inaugural season in the spring of 2009 and not in the spring of 2008 as originally planned.
The postponement of the inaugural season of the OSR will allow a partnership to form that will make the OSR bigger and better for the drivers, crews and fans. Although there will be a delay in the beginning of the series, the series will be about much more than just the competitive nature of these drivers. The series will become much more of an event to celebrate the pioneers that molded modern racing, rather than just a race with drivers from the past.
The new partnership between OSR and the soon to be named partner has not been completed, but plans have already begun to move forward for the 2009 debut of the redesigned OSR program.
"I regret that the 2008 season has been canceled and apologize to the old school fans that have been dying to see their past heros compete once again," said Norm Weaver Managing Partner of the OSR. "But, for those die-hard fans, we are planning few surprises for 2008 in hopes of filling some of that void."
"We had a great schedule planned for 2008," Weaver added.
But to make this series survive the test of time, with the help of our new partners, we have designed a much better series for the ultimate fans experience. I don't want to go too far into the details, because we want to do that when we announce the redesigned Old School Racing
program."
The OSR will have several announcements over the next few months about the redesign of the series. In addition the OSR will have announcements about surprises for 2008, drivers, sponsorship announcements and more. Keep checking the Old School Racing website at www.osrct.com for all the latest news.
About the OSR:

For Immediate ReleaseHarry Gant to Race the Famed No. 33 in the Old School Racing Tour Mooresville, NC (January 15, 2008) – Old School Racing will take old school fans back in time when they kick off their inaugural Old School Racing Tour this May. That is when the fans will be able to see their favorite drivers and the paint schemes they made famous.
Harry Gant will pilot the No. 33 that he made famous. Along with the green and white paint scheme made famous by Gant, “old school” fans will also see the familiar red and white scheme made famous by David Pearson, the gold and black scheme made famous by Davey Allison, the “Kings” paint scheme and many others that will bring back memories of the good ‘ole days of racing.
“I drove the No. 33 for 14 years and the No. 7 for about half that time,” said Gant. “I choose the No. 33 because that is what the fans recognize me in.”
Having car numbers and paint schemes that fans recognize is just another step in making the series as fan friendly as possible. Old School Racing will also incorporate on-track autograph sessions and “Old School Racing” memorabilia for fans to enjoy.
“Harry (Gant) came to us and said he would like to drive the number that he is most associated with,” said managing partner Norm Weaver. “Well we decided to take that one step further and let the driver race the numbers they have made famous and do our best to outfit them in the paints schemes they made famous.”
“We can’t wait to see these guys back in the cars again and here the announcer saying things like…. “Gant is on the inside of Pearson and along the outside comes Bodine making it three wide… can you imagine?” added Weaver.”
You can join Old School Racing for the inaugural race at Concord Speedway on May 18th of 2008. The entire schedule can be found on the Old School Racing web site at www.osrct.com.
